Summary: The lives of a young man with a terminal illness and a comedian collide when the young man’s support worker embarks upon a mission to cheer up their ward and a comedian finds himself on the wrong side of political correctness with his comedy career about to be put in the dumpster of life. Fortunately, his wife who is a life improvement coach who still believes in him unlike his agent that has written a life investment advice book, tries to help him salvage his career and his humanity as she encourages him to start giving comedy performances for children with terminal illnesses at the local hospital and to participate with the mother’s request. When the comedian meets the young man in question who also appears to believe in him and discovers that he is in dire need of some medical equipment that is not available due to lack of resources, the comedian undergoes a life changing moment and decides to follow his wife's ten life improvement advice steps in order to give the young patients the comedy performance of his life.
Once the two bond, his wife convinces him to organise a variety performance to raise some money so that the hospital can buy the lifesaving equipment that the young man requires to live. Since the comedian has never written any material for consumption or done any performances for family audiences before however, the young man who comes from a broken home that he now has a bond of friendship with and confides in as he tells him about some of his past mistakes in life, has to help him create the show of a lifetime. Fortunately, the comedian also has some assistance from his life coaching wife as he wades into this challenge and becomes a surrogate uncle and crutch of support to the young man as he starts to learn how families can be formed from other connections other than blood and begins to appreciate just how precious every moment of life really is. Since the variety show will involve pulling together different acts inclusive off the organisation of dance, music, sketch and novelty acts and the creation of a song for all the performers to sing in the variety show's finale, the variety performance could not only potentially save the comedian's bankrupt career but also save the lives of some young people with terminal conditions that are in desperate need of vital medical equipment and so the two, have to learn to persevere together in order to deliver and to fulfil the hopeful expectations all of those around them without leaving any expectation gaps.
